Hugging Horizons at Kowloon (pronounced as Kau Lung)
Trivia: (accdg to Asia travel) the word Kowloon means “Nine Dragons”. The explanation for Kowloon’s name is even more romantic. In Chinese, the peninsula’s name is Gow Lung, meaning “Nine Dragons”. The name is thought to have been coined by Emperor Ping, one of two boy- emperors of the doomed Sung Dynasty whose court fled to Hong Kong eight centuries ago. He is said to have counted eight mountains in the area, and decided to name it “Eight Dragons” (in accordance with the belief that every mountain is inhabited by a dragon). The Emperor’s tally of the peaks was corrected by a quick-witted courtier who pointed out that as emperors were also believed to be dragons, the place should be named “Nine Dragons” – Ping being the ninth. The origin of Kowloon’s name may be a legend, but it is a historical fact that the boy-emperor’s travelling palace stayed there. One ancient carved-rock inscription recording the imperial visit stands in a small park on the very edge of Hong Kong International Airport.
- Tsim Sha Tsui is one of Hong Kong’s major shopping, dining and entertainment areas, featuring a blaze of neon and the famous shopping street Nathan Road.
- Yau Ma Tei and Mong Kok: a bustling and fascinating area full of specialty shops and open markets.
Now for the shopping guide! Just the other day, I was given a chance to explore Kowloon and discover it’s street markets. However, among all the budget stores and smart buys, one store caught my attention.
I recommend this for women with good taste of fashion, yet would always mind tracking their budget. If your in Kowloon, then this place is a must visit boutique!
Latest Shoes and women sneakers are available in all shapes & sizes too. Price range : 60 HKD -100 HKD⬇️
Tip #1 :
Ask assistance to know if what your purcahsing is an authentic leather / the synthetic one, in Hong Kong you can never tell just by looking at it, every local seems to be in fashion, one must know how to distinguish the authentic ones from replica. If you won’t ask the sales lady/ man, you’ll surely have a hard time figuring things out.
Tip# 2 :
Authentic Luxury stores are mostly located in Central Hong Kong and are identified easily if Brands are presented by their artistic panaflex signages. ( Don’t worry for Brand Collector’s I will blog about the one stop Luxury malls in Central next, stay tuned!)
